The Festival Gardens on Crich Lane, owned by Amber Valley Borough Council
and set up for the Queens Golden Jubilee, host this stone.
The base stone was brought down from Longcliffe Quarries in the Derbyshire Peak District.
This poem is special because Bert Hinckley was married to Beth's cousin, and it was he who encouraged her to take up writing poetry. He was an associate member of International PEN, a world association of writers and a regular member of his local writers' group. We feel 'Prayer in a Garden' befits this peaceful little public garden with its reflective / spiritual theme and use of gardening language. Barrie Price from Beresfords has once again inscribed this plaque for us, with assistance from Armano Zaffardi. |
